Glucose Molecule
We get most of our glucose from digesting the sugar and starch in carbohydrates. Our digestive system breaks down the starch and sugar in food into
glucose where it then gets absorbed through the small intestine into the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, insulin, excreted by the pancreas, meets the glucose. Together, they can enter cells in muscles and the brain, allowing glucose tp supply power for physical and mental activities.
A common disease related to the body's irregular management of glucose is
Diabetes. Diabetes can often be controlled, or at least limited, by a strict attention to a
diabetic diet plan, and in more severe cases through
insulin injections.
